Ok, so I am sold on the 6.8 SPC, and I LOVE the ACOG scopes.  I really like the bullet drop compensating reticles, but, obviously, they do not make one for the 6.8 SPC.  I read that the best compromise is to get the one calibrated for the .223.  I noticed the 6.8 has an almost identical trajectory to the 77-Gr 5.56 out to 600-yards.

So...the question is...how effective will the bullet drop comepnsator be?

The more thoughts the better!  Thanks so much!

You can get pretty close with a 55gr setup, but just get a .308 ACOG. The trajectory is very close out to 600m. Same with 77gr 5.56.

Can you point me in the direction of a tragectory chart that shows that the 6.8 and .308 share a similiar tragectory?  The only ones I can find show there is more of a similiarity to the 5.56.

Thanks so much for the quick response!

The 6.8 shares the same trajecotry as the .308.  Yes it's also similar to the 75 & 77gr 5.56 rounds - but I don't recall an ACOG calibrated for them (the 5.56 ACOGs are calibrated for M855 - 62gr).

Bartholemu_Roberts had the big ACOG chart posted at the top of this forum (in a tacked thread).  You might want to check there.

ACOGs are designed for three calibers from several different barrel lengths. 14.5 with M855, 20 with 55gr, 20 with M855 and .308. Then some are designed for those rounds from carry handles and other models are for flat tops.

Thanks for pointing me to the tacked thread.  I really should have noticed that haha.  So here is what I have determined...

115 gr 6.8 16"bbl flat-top should use a .308 BDC and will be pretty much on at all ranges out to 600yds?

Please tell me if that is correct or incorrect.

Thanks so much!

BTW the ACOG is the TA01B

Out to 500 it's really close, at 600 there is a bit more of a differnence IIRC.

Damn, I asked this question a while back and no one answered

Anyways, that's good info to have.  If I keep my 6.8SPC it will have to get an ACOG.

Why are you thinking of getting rid of it????

It's a great round but I have three carbines and I shoot the 6.8 the least.  No other reason
