I just got back from the range after trying out my new EOTech 511.  I've been shooting red dot sights for over ten years but this is my first EOTech, and it won't be my last.  I've shot Aimpoints, Tascos, and C-Mores but this has to be the finest red dot sight out there.

I mounted it on my 16" CAR and was easily holding 1" to 2" groups at 100 yards.  The place I shoot at doesn't allow rapid fire but I was averaging a shot per 1 to 2 seconds.  That's quick target acquistion. Iwasn't able to do that with the Aimpoint.

Now I have to save up some cash to get another for one of my other carbines.

I like to call it the "videogame optic".

I second your motion, I got my very first Eotech (a 512) a few weeks ago from the SKD group buy.  I have yet to mount it on a rifle because it is to go on a SBR whose paperwork is pending, but it is by far the best optical sight I've ever seen.

Neat how the reticle just seems to superimpose itself on whatever you are looking at, regardless of the distance to the target.

I've had trouble with some other sights due to an astigmatism, but the Eotech looks clear as a bell with no distortion.

BTW, if anybody out there is looking to buy an Eotech, SKD (look at the top right of this page) is great.  They have a user-friendly website and their shipping and prices are top notch.

One of the benefits I found today is that you can fine tune it to the lighting conditions.  Much more so than other dot sights.

Agreed. Works well with my old eyes.

One thing I found interesting...the superimposed reticle remains the same size (relative to the target) regardless of eye relief. Try it!

I know some guys will dogpile on the battery issue...I guess if you're a covert operative or you believe the holocaust is coming that may be an issue. I shoot for fun, and just keep an extra set in my range bag.

As for prices--shop around.  I bought one from a local for $389.  This is the 552.65.  (NV).  I have seen them advertised for much higher

BTW.  I love it.  My opinon is it is the most well rounded of them all.  None are perfect but decide what you need it for and then choose.  I like it most for the 1MOA dot.

I put a 512 on my RRA and can't believe the simplicity & quality of the unit. I too will buy EOTech again!
