I have a Kwik-Site scope mount on my Bushmaster 20" A2 that also has a channel in it to allow for iron sight use. My iron sights are zeroed at 25-30 yards but I have yet to zero my scope since I just got it last night. I was wondering if I should 1.)zero the scope at 25-30 yards also so that both sighting sytems are the same or if I should 2.)zero the scope at 100 yards and just use the scope for 50+ yards and the irons inside that. What do you guys think? |
I'm not sure what range I will do most of my shooting at. Could anyone that is using a scope on their AR tell me what distance they are zeroed at? |
Like AG said, it all depends on what you will shoot at. My bolt-gun scope is zeroed at 200, because that's where I shoot it most at. My AR w/ ACOG is zeroed so that the BDC works. My precision AR w/ 2.5-10x scope is zeroed at 100 yds, because that is where I typically shoot it. Once I zero, I dope it and tape the chart to the buttstock. |
| I zero my iron sights, aimpoints and EOTechs at 200 yards. This means I am never more than 2.5 inches high or low from point blank to around 225-240yards, depending on the ammo. I also have a Burris scope with the ballistic plex for 1 of my ARs. For the ballistic plex to work, it has to be zeroed at 100 yards. Like thay say, it all depends on how you plan to use it. Personally, I like the 200 yard "Modified battlefield Zero" for the AR15 because it has a fairly flat trajectory. YMMV |
