| Does anybody have a picture of a A.R.M.S #39 scope mount mounted on a rifle. Is there another mount that is the same style but better, thank you for all ur help. |
No offense but for someone that's been around since 2000 ya don't get out much do ya? The EOTech red-dot sight is designed to set at co-witness height (which means when zeroed the red-dot of the EO or Aimpoint sets DIRECTLY atop your front sight post) when mounted on the flatop of an A3 or A4 AR15/M16. The reason co-witness is important to us is that should the batts fail or the red-dot goes out for any reason - YOU can use the BUIS "through" the scope without having to remove it from the weapon. You'll notice (with sharp eyes) that the rail the Aimpoint M68 mount is setting on is ABOVE the level of where the flatop would be on an A3/A4 rifle, hence the EO while it could be used; it would more than likely severly limit the use of the BUIS as backup to the red-dot. Can the EO be mounted forward like the Aimpoint above? Sure Can a Trijicon triangle type sight be mounted there too? Sure, (with likely the same BUIS issues mentioned above) Can a ACOG or any other type standard scope be mounted to the rails above the carry handle? Sure (although the "height" would mean that the ACOG recticle/stadia lines would NOT be accurate making them out-of-whack and a standard scope mounted there would be so high as to make a proper cheek weld on the stock difficult to achieve) The ARMS #39A2 like shown above was designed in it's day to provide a platform for the most used red-dot sight in the military on the most prevelent type of M16 (which had the carry handle A1 or A2) and even though the EO has gained tremendous popularity over the last few years it is still second fiddle to the Aimpoint today as there so many of them in use and they are still producing them in mass quantities for our soldiers. Hope this has help, Mike |
| Thanks for the reply, the reason for the lack of knowlage is i have only recently returned to the fold of the ar15 h.gif . I always had one but other guns caught my intrest. I also never thought I needed anything but iron sights ,but after playing around with some reddots i decided i need to have one to.So I guess Im starting from the begining again.I knew about the co-witnes but i didnt know diferent mounts were so specalised as to which sights they could use. I guess you have to pick your sight and work around that. |
Does the Eotech lower 1/3 Co-Witness (my personal preference) or is there no Co-Witness at all? |
I've never used the BennieCooley mount, but I also have never heard anything bad about them. As far as a FAQ, have you checked the Optics, Mounts, and Sights Forum? I personally started this thread to address those types of questions: FOR THOSE NEW TO THE AR: HERE ARE SOME “OPTICS OPTIONS”. |
www.bushmaster.com/shopping/scopes/eot-12.asp Should you want to mount the EOTech or Trijicon Reflex AND have it set at co-witness height OR the lower 1/3 of the view; THIS is the choice. IF the Aimpoint is your optic choice; then that BEST option is already noted. Mike |

NO. I used the ARMS #39A2 on my early A1 uppered rifle as I wanted the Aimpoint, but I can tell you that except for those like myself who have traded in all their A1s or A2s in 1/9 twist for A3s and 1/7 twist uppers; this is best choice you'll get for the EO or Trijicon optic options, (I'm basing this on what others who have bought this have stated).
