I've read through the topics and then the IBZ methods for 50yd BZ on iron sights. I've got some confusion.. The IBZ method has you BZ @50 with the small aperature and keep it there, or, use the large aperature and turn two clicks below 6/3 Other methods have you zero at 50 with the small then turn to the large, i think ? I was under the impression that the large and small aperatures on mil-spec DCH were different height's? The question is,, which aperature do you do YOUR BZ with??? And which way does it hold true?? My scenario... I went to the range and did my 50 BZ with the large aperature on my rifles. Mil-spec Colt DCH w/ F marked FSB's. I attained my zero and it is good. Is this going to hold out to 300 for then switch to the small aperature for beyond?? Or do I have to do it again with the small at 50 then flip to the large for CQB??? Basically I want to have a CQB BZ with the large and flip to the small for 300+ while keeping everything corresponding with the #'s on the elevation dial, did I do it right?? |
No, you didn't. You are supposed to zero at 50 yards using the SMALL aperture with the elevation wheel at FOUR clicks below the 6/3 marking on the detachable carry handle. Once you've done that the distance markings on the elevation wheel will be accurate when using the SMALL aperture and you'll have the 50 yard zero with the large aperture when the elevation wheel is at 6/3. Always do your zeroing with the small aperture because it is more accurate. |

Thanks for the reply, I take it your going off the IBZ method right? My elevation wheel stops at 6/3, so I guess you would have me use the allen key and make the four clockwise clicks yes? Then I will be on with the numbers on the wheel for the small and be on at 50-300 with the large correct? |
