| Can a NV device be used with a Compact ACOG? |
|
Yes with little to no problem. You will need to use the NV device behind the acog only. Never in front of. Edit: Let me give you more data. Acogs work great with Gen 1 and gen 2 equipment. Both can only gather up to 20,000X light gain. Most gen 1&2 units have a manual iris which can be adjusted down to stop any bloom you may see in the NVD device coming from the reticle of the acog. Gen 3 devices gather much more light then gen 1 or 2 nomally starting at 30,000X light gain. Gen 3 will tend to bloom the reticle because of the increased light gain when using acogs. If you are running a PVS-14 you can adjust the manual gain to get rid of the bloom and see the reticle clearly. I have never used a MUM which has auto gain so I do not know how well the acogs will work with them. I hope this helps. |
Do to the design of the NVD device the image you see is not a true image but a projected image on a screen. This tends to cause the POI to change when using NVD gear in front of scopes/optics. Your looking thru the scope which is looking thru the NVD optic which is giving you a picture on a screen. Its not a real picture, its a projected image. Now this is not always the case and some of the newer equipment has handled this problem. But I would not trust a NVD device to give me a true POA/POI until I have fully tested the unit with the scope I was using. |
| The new knight's armament pictures of the x110 SASS rifle show the pvs-14 mounted in front of the leupold day scope on the frontal rail. they are seperated by a inch or so. The pvs-14 seems to have a hooded device ont he front of it. Any thought's on this? I was planning on calling them for more deatils but I figured iI would post it here to see if any people haave anyt hoguths on this. |
