I want to mount  an aimpoint on a surefire M73 forearm and want to cowitness with iron sights, specically carry handle rear and fixed front. Can I do this with the GG&G spare battery mount?

Thanks!

Without actually answering your question...

You either need a gooseneck mount coming off your carry handle or free float rails to mount it on. The surefire rails, as tight as they are, don't make for a very stable platform for optics. You're aimpoint probably won't hold zero very well.

To slightly answer your question... I think the GG&G mount will cowitness. Don't see why it wouldn't.

I agree completely with Cowboy on the rail, the M73 is a great rail but I would not mount an optic directly to it. Yes the GG&G ring would co-witness because the top of the rail will be at the same height as the 1913 on a flat-top.

Careful there.  The M73's top rail sits a hair lower than the 1913 on a flat top.

Well, I guess I didn't do my homework, the Surefire won't lock-up tight enough to mount an optic? Not very usefull then is it?

It has its place, like all non free float rails. Grips, lights, lasers to an extent, sling mounts, etc. Just no optics.

To do what you want to do, look at the Troy/Samson/MI free float rails. They can be mounted without removing the barrel and FSB and are very solid. The MI can probably be had for little more then what you paid for the Surefire rail.

Yeah, Me not too smart when no coffee me had...

as soon as I hit the post button, the link smacked me in the face. I am thinking about just mounting through the carry handle with the ARMS ring and calling it good.
