Well, with a 3.5x TA11 donut reticle it is precise enough to shoot this five round group at 100yds from the bench using nothing but a Grippod and the case the rifle was riding in (stock Bushmaster trigger as well):

The Lilja barrel really likes the 75gr Hornady bullet. This was the Black Hills Moly loading of that round. The grids on the target are 1".

Thanks for the info. I'm getting a TA11C and was interested in this very thing.

Well to be fair, that is a pretty good group for me under those conditions; but I think that group shows that you can be plenty precise with the donut if you need to be. it may take a bit more time; but generally you can afford more time when shooting for precision. Here is the same target with more typical groups shown:

Thanks! I was pretty pleased with it in case you can't tell

What part of the donut are you using as the point, the very outer top of the circle?

I don't shoot much past 200, so the range "Tree" never gets used.   If it wasn't so pricey, I'd probably sell my TA11 for the rarer B model.  I've always wanted that one.

I am using the top of the donut at 100yds, though I used the tree to plink steel at 500yds the same day. The major issue I had with shooting groups using the donut is we had big rain clouds moving through - so we would get a bit of cloudiness followed by bright sun that made the reticle bloom quite a bit.

About 99% of what you see is shooter error and not equipment; but having the reticle change sizes due to brightness didn't help the group size on several of those. I would definitely recommend the inner tube mod if you plan to try and shoot the donut for precision.

After owning the chevron a little while, I like it a lot more than I used to, but I continue to think that the donut is the most generally useful reticle they offer.
