| I have a brand new Eotech 512. If I place the device on a flat surface and aim it at a point ~10m away, the POI moves slightly (but significantly) based on my viewing position relative to the device. This would indicate to me that the device is pretty much useless for any sort of precision aiming unless I can guarentee myself an exactly identical cheekweld between shots/zeroing. Is this expected behavior? |
| If you sight it in at 50 yards you be hitting dead on. Anything closer and your point of aim will be right on but your point of impact will be low. You just have to factor that in when shooting at close distances. A solution to that is don't turn the EOtech on when you are close up just look through the window. |
+1 The EOTech isn't parallax free at 10m. Past 25 is where they start having very little parallax. Set the sight on your table again, only this time look out a window at the house across the street. You should notice that the reticle moves in the window, but not on the target. WIZZO |
| I would like to hear how your comments are after you have been out and zeroed the EOTech. Even better would be if you zinged a few hundred rounds thru your rifle once zeroed, even at 100+ yards. To many people the EOTechs affect some people to a degree. For me, I was in heaven once I started seeing how easy it was to unload a 30 rd mag at 100 yards. At the very first, I sort of thought of it as just another different sight or scope package like I used to blast away with in the Army. My 2 sights, the 551 and 552 hit the target where that dot is at. Once zeroed, I would like to hear how you liked it. I'll bet you say it kicks ass. If I am wrong, post again or IM me to let me know. |
