How do use the index screw on the A2 rear? And why is the index ring loose when the elevation is cranked all the way up? Not having any problems, just for my own information. Thanks |

The elevation wheel is actually two separate rings, one that actually has the threads on it that raise adn lower the sight and the index wheel that has the elevation markings on it. The index screw is used to lock them together. When you have the sight all the way to the bottom, if the elevation markings are not where you want them then you can loosen the index screw, rotate the index wheel where you want it then tighten it back up. When you say the wheel is loose when full elevated, what exactly do you mean? I guess maybe you're saying that it is no longer pushed all the way against the top of it's opening in the receiver and the rear sight is able to wobble. There's a roll pin through the receiver just below the rear sight that goes through the threaded part of the rear sight base (you can see the slot for it when the sight is elevated) and there a spring inside the hollow rear sight base that is squeezed between the top of the sight base and the roll pin. If that spring is too short, too weak, or isn't installed correctly then it won't keep proper tension on the rear sight. |
