I was breezing through the Cheaper than Dirt catalog that came today, something that usu takes no more than five minutes, when I noticed this: hmmm...

I've been in the market for an optic for my AR.  I'd prefer a variable power, something I could use around the 25yd line and then dial up for some 300yd shooting (that's as long as my club goes), but everything is way more expensive than I can justify.

My AR runs a Troy BUIS with a standard FSB, and that's good enough for training or actual fighting, should I ever need to battle pirates or mutant alien bears in my house.  Unfortunately, my eyes don't allow me to shoot accurately at even 50yd without magnification.  Kinda takes the fun out of having a rifle that can shoot out there a bit.

This isn't the best or the newest, but it is being billed as "HK" and STANAG, with an illuminated reticle and ranging capabilities.  Would it work with an AR?  Anyone think it's actually quality.  Is it worth getting the plastic out, or should I look at something else?

You would need a scope mount that fits a Stanag scope.  Not usually cheap or easy to find unless Chinese airsoft mounts meet your needs.

If your eyes are bad then cheap glass is not the right answer. A low end Leupold ($200ish) would probably be one of the better options for you.
