Just ordered a Eotech 552 should I get a riser mount or just use it as is?

Try it without and see how you like it first.  No sense in spending more money and adding weight to your rifle if you're happy mounting it without a riser.

+1

Have you gave any thought to what type of BUIS you’ll be running? A folding BUIS might make a world of difference if your mounting the EO directly to the upper receiver.

Check out here for some Optics Options.

I have a ARMS 40 but have been thinking of getting a 40L instead.

Also what location do most ppl use to mount these?  I have a KAC RAS so should I mount it like a scout sight?

The majority are mounted on the receiver or hanging slightly over the handguards.

ARMS 40 mounted in the rear-most slot and the EOTech mounted with 1 space between the #40 and the rear of the EOTech.

I like it and it keeps the weight more to the rear and keeps the rifle balanced better without getting front heavy (something that could happen if you mount it out front).

I just ordered the 40L after putting rails on my S&W. Before I sighted in I decided to move the Eotech back about two spaces and it worked better for me and still have room for the 40L on the way.
