I'm buying a 16" DPMS rifle from a gentleman a few miles from here at a reasonable price. The only problem is that it's a flat top and currently has no rear sight.

I'm only going to have this gun for the summer, so I want my cheapest alternative for a rear sight. I don't want to drop $80 on a sight. Surely there's something out there closer to $30 or so that will work for a few months?

Naturally I don't want something that's a waste of money, but I'm not looking for anything Mil-Spec or precision. Just something to break bottles and punch paper with while I'm home for the summer.

Also, I do have a 1" Tasco Scope that I wouldn't mind mounting either. Know of any cheap rings that will work?

Thanks!

Yankee Hill Machine offers some very solid BUIS for affordable prices. They have a fixed rear sight that you can buy for less than $50. You might also be able to pick up a chopped carry handle sight in the EE at a good price. No sense in buying a chinese POS that won't hold zero to save ten rf fifteen bucks.

How about this? I'm not sure about mounts, what's the difference between Dovetail, Weaver and Picatinny?
