I was looking at the Leupold 1.5-5x20 Mark 4 PR and I was wondering if I could assume it will hold up to the abuse of a FAL.  Also what mounts would you folks recommend for it?  I'm open to other suggestions on scope but I limited to $600 and I would like some kind of rangeing / holdover ability in the recticle.

I was also looking at the IOR scopes, (IOR 4x24 CQB ).

something in the 1-5 power range would be fine.  This rifle is not a long range tack driver, but I'm starting to suspect it killed the Bushnell Elite 3200 I had on it.  I can't seem to hold 5" from a bipod anymore and I'm certain it did better than that before.

I'd imagine the Leupold Tactical line would be more than up to the challenge of a FAL.

You FAL sounds like mine, a 5-8 MOA rifle.  I know mine is not the scope.  I use the Leupold 3.5-10PR on it.  Off the bench...off a bipod....5-8MOA.  At least it's consistent .

Try putting the Elite 3200 on another rifle to check on it's performance before buying another scope.  It might just be the FAL.

I'd buy that except when I first scoped it I was getting a pretty consistant 2.5" group at 100 yards.  I charted it over about 50 shots of custom ammo.  Today I can't get under 5" on 10 shot groups.   It's an SA58 so the barrel is not surplus and is pretty well made.  I'm going this weekend to trade optics.  I might toss my EOTech on it, as I know I can do 1-2" at 50 yards with that.  Last time out I was seeing 3" groups from the scope at 50 yards.  I'm also going to try irons as well.  The only other rifle I have that could mount the current scope has never been shot for groups so I have no idea how it should group anyway.
