There are front site mounted light, lasers, rails, and even slings.

Why in the would would anyone want to put that much pressure on the front site and take the chance (good chance) of either damaging or misalaigning the site??

It’s gonna take a good jolt to throw that site out of wack. With out anything mounted to the front site, what’s to keep me from smacking it against some thing else while using the rifle?

What about mounting a bayonet to the barrel?

Additional weight makes it all the more likey.  Additionally, lights and lasers, if hit, would have more leverage making that much more likely it will damage the front sight.  Contant pressure from a sling would definately have an effect

Pressure can cause shifts in point of aim point of impact, but I doubt there are issues of breaking. Mounting items like that to a FF rail is a better way to do it, and will likely produce better results, but pleanty of people seem to get by well enough doing it otherwise.
