Hi All,  Not sure if this has been addressed, or if there may be an issue with my Aimpoint ML2.

Picked up the Aimpoint ML2, however have a question about the dot intensity.

With the sight in the "Off" position - white dot on dial, lined up with white dot on battery housing - obviously no dot.

Turning dial clockwise, from the off position - this is what I've noticed (looking through scope on flat black background)

Position 1 through 2) - no dot visible
Position 3 through 4) - 3 is barely visible and can only be focused upon if I check pos 4 and "watch" the dot area and decrease intensity from 4 back to 3.  Pos. 4 itself is when it finally appears as a dot, but you can barely see it, so in fast movement it's useless.
Positions 5 through 9) - Dot appears normal, obviously gains in intensity and looks perfect.

So anyone else who owns the ML2 and can't see shit with settings on 1-3, pos. 4 being pretty much useless as well?

Thanks in advance - John

Thanks Trey - now I know the M2 is for night vision, but I didnt think the ML2 (non-night vision) had the same settings.  Just to confirm, my scope is marked ML2.

I've got a Sony Camcorder with "nightshot" night vision.  FWIW, perhaps later I'm going to try view the dot at its lowest settings through the night vision and see what happens.

I have two ML2’s, one brand new and one a year or so older that I bought used. When simultaneously turned on, and turned up together, each has different dot intensities. Of course the newer ML2 has the dot coming into view earlier. I just contribute it to either being left constantly on or age. If I remember correctly the older ML2 is about 2 clicks behind the newer in intensity.

ETA: I emailed Aimpoint with the following:

A recent discussion on AR15.com has me asking the following question concerning the dot intensity on my ML2.

The used ML2 was purchased from a police officer that I believe left the sight in a constant on condition. Could being left continually on have somehow weakened the diode in my ML2, so that now to attain the same dot intensity as my new ML2 I have to increase the intensity?

Your reply is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

It's normal.

Settings 1 through 3 are for "low light" (not to be confused with "night time") applications.

Yea, that’s normal. But my situation has me wondering.

Quib I think it's battery related. I notice as my batteries get older the dot dims. Install a fresh one in the older optik and see what happens.

Thanks fellas - great idea on the email.

Mine came new in box (dont know if you can tell the date of manf. using serial number - who knows how long the battery had been in the box), but I suppose I can try a new battery as well, pick one up tonight.

ETA - Note to self, in the event of the apocolypse, don't go to WallyWorld looking for these batteries.
