I'm looking for a scope to install on a RRA Varmint A4 24" with a LaRue mount. The scope will be used for paper targets out to 300 yards and coyotes out to about 200 to 250 yards. Which scope would be a good choice?

For coyotes, I would not go with so much magnifacation. A good clear 3-9x36 or a 3.5-10x40 Leupold, or my choise a Nightforce 3.5-15x50, would be more than enough for 300+ yards, and it would be easier to follow coyotes in the brush as they come running to the feather.

Lower powered scopes will be easier to hunt with, especially if targets are moving, which coyotes always are.  For paper, better glass is more important than high magnification. I would be thinking more in terms of 1-4x than 6.5-20x.  Coyotes coming hard and fast are easy to lose in your FOV with any magnified optic. Trying to hit one running at 25 yards with a scope on 6 or 8 power is a big challenge. With a 1x, fairly easy.

For paper, a lower magnification is as easy to shoot groups as with a high one. Picking the right target face, so you can get a consistent hold point, makes more difference than magnification.  Only advantage to more magnification is occasionally being able to see bullet holes on targets, if you have glass that is good enough to resolve them.  A spotting scope is better though.
