Should I keep my ACOG 4x or Sell it and Buy a new Spectre DR (or atleast reserve one to buy). I like the Concept of the Spectre DR and was wondering what happens if the batteries go out and what your still able to use (like being able to change from 1x-4x)? Any Help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nathan

THE BATTERY GOING OUT WOULD ONLY AFFECT RETICLE ILLUMINATION. THE RETICLE ITSELF, BLACK, WOULD STILL BE PRESENT AS IN A CONVENTIONAL SCOPE.

THE SWITCHING FROM 1X TO 4X IS STRICTLY A MANUAL FUNCTION; THE SHOOTER'S SUPPORT HAND THUMB IS THE POWER SOURCE FOR THAT.

Personally I would keep the acog, and buy the eclan anyways with and arms mount, that way you can shoot both.

So what is your take on them Wes? How do they compare to a TA11?

I too am looking forward to getting one. they "looked" pretty cool when checking them out at Shot Show. I was surprised to read that it was not a true 1x, the ones I messed with at Shot Show sure seemed like they were. I cant forget all the bad things I have heard about externally adjusted optics, but what I saw left me impressed enough to really look forward to getting it.

The one thing I didnt really like, aside from the adjustment, was that the cross hair reticle disnt seem to cross. It was blank at the center. That would seem to impede accuracy some, but without having shot with one, I really couldnt say for sure.

I know, If money Grew on trees... I really believe this Disease is more expensive than any other. What I'll do is hold onto the ACOG alittle longer untill I hear more reviews about the Specter, maybe by then I'll Have acouple Rifles needing Optics .

Question 2: Is the 1X really 1.0X or something else? The optical magnification at the 1X position is designed to be 1.02X and production unit-to-unit tolerances placing the magnification within .96X and 1.06X. Achiving a true 1.0X value was another critical contraint on the optical design since this is very important for both eyes open close combat. At the 4X setting, the magnification is 4.0+/-0.1X.
This is what one of the elcan people said about the 1X
