He was kidding.

I'd suggest an EOTech 512.  It uses common AA batteries, costs less than what you are looking to spend, and comes with a built in flattop mount.  Best of all it super-tough.

I agree an Eothingy is the way to go IMO. I like it over the Aimpoint(which I own only because I got lucky and got a phat deal).

I have an aimpoint (ml2) and like it.  Main thing over the Eotech was the single dot instead of the circle and dot.  If they make an Eotech with just a point go for it.  I have played with both and felt more comfortable with the Aimpoint.

I also have a Tacpiont on a my Glock CCU and have had no problems so far.  It has been there for about and year now.  It is just a fun range gun but I don't think I would let my life depend on it.

this is probably an incredibly dumb question, but i've only seen aimpoints mounted in front of the handle on the ar-15.

Is it possibel to mount it right on top where the handle would be?

like i illustrated with this shitty picture: http://home.no/ldom/mygun.GIF
