LOL! You know, that doe was munching for nearly an hour while I shot at assorted shorter range targets, before it occured to me to take a picture of her through the scope. About the time I got the camera ready, she started to walk in to the brush.  Didn't get a chance to put the crosshairs in the right spot. (assuming I'd even know where to put them. )

hehehehe I just got the TA31DOC today. The Docter sight's hood is a bitch to remove, I can't simply press down and forward as the manual says to do, finally resorting to using a plastic drift punch to knock it off the sight, I think I broke one of the little plastic tabs that hold the cover in place  I thought I may have to call up Trijicon and sound like a dumbass  When I took the pic there was direct sun light on the fiber optic tube, so the center reticle is blooming. This one below is taken without direct sun light (but plenty bright inside the room still) to show the lit reticle better

Duffy, I bought one recently as well. There is a small trick to getting the cover off. If you will put your forefinger under the ACOG eye piece while putting your thumb on the cover and kinda pich the two together while pushing forward with the thumb it will come off. Do it a couple of dozen times and it will fit just right. I took a dremel drill to mine and put two small holes through the front section and then put some 550 cord through it so that the cover is dummy corded to the scope. Otherwise I would loose it during the first range session. That second pic looks great. I had to put my sniper veil over my scope when sighting it in at the range. I wanted as fine a line as possible for sighting in. Now that's it's in I like the brightness. You've got a sweet location right there on the beach. JWL |

I can adjust my position when looking at it, and it comes out a little sharper. However, the right side is still a bit blurry especially when concentrating on my target. Other than "cool" points for owning a TA31RCO, I don't think the horizontal, left-right stadia/mil lines were worth the extra $100 over the TA31F. At least the chevron and vertical elevation stadia are clear. It took some getting used to the red chevron, and I can hit those metal plates out to 300 yards EASY and 400 with a some effort. But the chevron is still kinda small. ............[ETA: I just got home, and looked through the scope. The left-side stadia is crisp but the right is blurry.] |

I love the chevron of my TA31F, but the TA31A's triangle is probably best of them, it has the tip for long and precision shots, and it's bigger/brighter than the chevron and donut. I still won't go back to a TA31 or change to a TA31A though

 This is a cheap scope, $34.00, supposed to be 3-9x50 set at 100 yds, measured out to 100 yds, 9X power. Does anyone have a clue about the reticle and stadia? The outhouse is roughly 7 feet tall. It seems to be a cross between an inverted T.D. Smith and a Heavy Duplex. I don't know about tick marks. Are they mil-dot? |

RESPONDING TO THE $34.00 SCOPE POST ABOVE BY CCW! I could be wrong, but I looked at a scope similar to this with a dual red/green lighted recticle a few years back for an AK-47 and it was explained to me as above. I believe the lines at the botton are 2.5 mils apart, and your horizontal and vertical tics are 1 mil each. On your lowest zoom setting - which I believe is 3x - each of the lines at the bottom signify an additional 100m increment. If a target stands from the bottom to the top of the lower line grid - it is 100m away - provided it is 6ft tall. If it comes to the second line from the top, its 200m away. 3rd line from the top - 300m away, so on and so forth. If a 6ft target fits between the 2.5 mil lines - its around 600m distant. |
Best I could do with a little pocket digital point & shoot: Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm LR/T w/ Illuminated TMR ETA: A buddy tried with a much nicer camera, but this was the best we could do. My dot-fu is weak, but I'm thinking the Explorer is ~300 and the stop sign is ~450. The picture exaggerates the mirage badly. Without the camera, you can see details like the bottom screw in the stop sign plainly.  |
