I am building an AR-15 M4 type with flattop and wanted to put an EOTech 512 on it. However, I've seen a couple of references here and at other sites that refer to a "new" EOTech which is to come out in February. I checked the company's website but didn't see anything that seemed to pertain to this matter. What is the new model and should I wait for it to come out or go with the 552? Thanks! |

The 553 is the new model. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=252643 www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=171&t=148442 Edit... That's one outstanding lurking job you did... almost 4 years before posting? Congrats, man~!!

I think you are refering to the Eotech HMS (magnifier). This is the one I'm most interested in. After all, the 553 isn't really "new", it's basically a colored 551 with throw levers at a much higher price. Does anyone have any more information on the HMS? |

No terd. I'm not thinking of the HMS. He asked about a new reticle and I told him no. I said maybe he's thinking about the prototype BDC reticle or even the less than lethal reticle that's available. Yes, the 553 is most certainly new considering it's not being sold yet. It's not really just a colored 551 with throw levers. It's longer than the 550s and shorter than the 510s. It is 7mm taller than them as well- basically they have a built in riser like the RRA or LaRue provided. The 553 uses CR123s which is something I had thought of and wished they'd do a year ago. So, it's pretty darn new. |
