| Just out of curiosity why are the ACOGs so much compared to the other type of sights out ther ie: EoTech or Aimpoint? An ACOG goes for more than the entire rifle does! Just curious! Can you use the ACOG on other firearms or is it only set up for the 5.56mm? |

The ACOG can be calibrated for several different calibers, bullets, distances and barrel lengths. Go to Trijicon.com to find out which model is meant for what. ACOGs are expensive because they are magnified optics, with a complicated housing/tube and mount, excellent glass (better than most Leupold glass) and tritium and/or fiber optics. Tritium is a radioactive material, which brings the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) into the matter, and requires extra paperwork and special equipment and facilities to meet code requirments. That all costs extra money. |
