I posted this in GD, too, but I figured it won't get lost as quickly here. I have a cheap-o version of one of these scopes:  And since I am upgrading my A2 upper to a flattop upper, I really won't need this thing for my AR anymore. It's actually a good little scope for a Leapers -- it kept its zero fairly well, or as well as could be expected for a $40 scope. Anyway, I figured I would do something with it, and I want to put it on my Ruger 10/22 carbine. The tube diameter is a weird dimension, though (1 5/16" or 33.34mm) so Wal-Mart scope rings are out. I obviously can't use the carry handle fastening system that is on the scope because the Ruger only has a simple Picatinny/Weaver rail on it. Good news about that is that the carry handle mount can be removed by taking out the 4 phillips screws and all that is left is a straight tube of an odd diameter. How could I go about retrofitting this scope to fit the rail of the 10/22? Is it a lost cause? |

Attach the mount to one of these? www.mountsplus.com/miva/merchant.mvc?page=MSP/PROD/arms_mounts/5 How? Without the swing arm, the mount has no way of attaching itself to anything. Plus a Weaver/Picatinny rail is what I'm trying to attach it to in the first place. Maybe this is the wrong ARMS #5? |
AH now I understand. So...the only question now is where to find an ARMS 5 knockoff...any idea?  Alternatively couldn't I simply drill two holes in the cheapo mount to fit bolts that will go thru the ARMS 5 mount's holes and then maybe tighten with nuts? The cheapo mount might not be long enough, though, to drill holes that far apart. ETA: Hey I think I might have found something that might just work. LINK, from Leapers, too
