| Any feed back on the pro's or con's of the Springfield Armory scopes out there.Maybe any pics mounted on AR's? |
| I had a 4.5-14x40mm scope that was pretty decent, but a friend of mine went full-tilt and bought their top-o-the-line gen III whiz-bang scope for his M1A, that went less than 50 rds fired before the scope literally fell apart on the rifle. I have read many more bad reports on SA scopes than good. |

I had a SA 4.5-14x56 with the bullet drop and mil-dots. I had good luck with it, firing 500 rounds of 308 through it. However, I think I got the exception, and not the rule, in terms of quality. I sold that scope and bought a Leupold instead. SA is completely out of the optics business now, and that should tell you something. Yes, they have a lifetime warranty (for the original owner, don't know about subsequent) but I figure it was costing SA so much money to honor that warranty, they bailed on the project. I suggest saving your money and getting something else. They look feature rich and a good value for the price, but that is all smoke and mirrors. If you need a cheaper scope, I think the SWFA Super Sniper series is decently regarded. |

I got the 1st gen 4-14x56 for my M1A ... well it was way too much to handle... so I went back to good olde iron sights on the M1A (and love it so much more with NM sights). I took the SA scope and put it on my 700PSS (.308) where it has been serving me well. I also have the .223 version on my 700VSF, but am thinking about selling that (700) and getting a target bbl AR upper to put the scope on. I haven't had problems with my SA scopes, reading what I have, I probably wouldnt buy another... Instead, I'd go with an IOR, Leupold or a Nightforce (there are a few others that would fit the bill) my advice is to buy the BEST that you can afford (unless it's inferior) if you have to wait a bit more, it'll be worth it. |
