After several years of owning ARs I've finally decided to try out a flat top. I'm finding out it can be very confusing trying to decide which configuration to get. Here's what I was thinking. EOTech 552 with a GG&G A2 BUIS with conventional M4 handguards. Will this all fit on the receiver? Also since the EOTech was designed to attach directly to the rails what is the advantage of using a mount such as the Larue, Accucam, or Dominator? If I used such a mount would all that stuff still fit on the receiver? I don't want to get those railed handguards if I don't have to. I forgot to mention I will have a standard front sight base. |

dont own a eothing but im gonna give it a shot. the 552 looks like it would fit with the buis on the upper but it would be mounted right next to the buis which would block the control buttons. also most like the holo/dot sights to be mounted slightly forward, has speed advantage. the dominator or larue mount helps rise the eothing so that it would co-witness in the lower third of the glass. meaning the front sight would be in the lower third of the glass when veiwing through the optic alone also adds the quick removal/install with the throw lever. think the accucam is just a throwlever for the eothing not a riser. someone will be along shortly to clear up what i got wrong. again just a stab at the question. |
Yes, it will fit on the receiver, though you may wish in the future to get some railed handguards so you can move the eotech forward. If you still have a A2 front sight post instead of a flipup, then getting a railed mount or quick release mount helps to raise the eotech, and gives you a quick release capability for when you want to switch between a scope and the eotech. |
LaRue: Addes a bit of height so the irons are in the lower 1/4 of the display. It also allows for quick removal with perfect return to zero. Also allows use of an 3x Magnifier or PVS-14 NVG behind the optic due to the raised rail on the mount. Allows use of your choice of BUIS, and it's easy to remove the optic & mount an other (say swap to an ACOG). Accucam: Just improves the stock mounting system - gives it a quick release lever instead of a non captive knob. Dominator: Raises the height of the EOTech (to put the irons in the lower 1/3 of the display) and adds an A2 type fixed BUIS. This is not a 'quick release' type mount - it's a mount where you will only be using the EOTech and no other sight. |
It sound like you are putting it on a M4 if you go with a Eotech you will love it! ![]() www.csgunworks.com [email protected] Here’s some testimonials about CS GunWorks for AR15 Board Mike at CS Gunworks is... |
