Hi All,

I just received my A2 RRA upper. The rear sight has two different diameter holes and I am able to flip to the one I want to use. One is a small diameter and the other hole is slightly larger. What is the reason for this and how do I know which one to use? My initial assumption is one hole is for shorter ranges and the other is for longer range targets. Is this correct? Thanks for the help.

"The M16A2 rear sight system offers a dual flip-up aperture: the short range aperture (0-200 meters) has a larger opening for greater light gathering as well as better moving target visibility; the smaller aperture is designed for maximum accuracy at longer ranges."

If you look at the bottom of the aperture when the BIG hole is up, you should see a "0-2"

Basically it's good for 0-250, or so, meters. After that you switch to the small hole and start using the elevation knob.
