My AR has the fixed carry handle.  Am I better off mounting an EOTech on top or hanging off the front?  If the latter, what's the preferred set-up?  LaRue?

I currently have a 1.5x Compact ACOG (TA44R2), but am more impressed with the EOTech.  Just seems to be more natural for my eyes.  What do you think my Compact ACOG is approximately worth?  Would be nice if the two systems would be a push!

Thanks

Get the PRI gooseneck (which will allow for co-witnessing). If you have M4 HG's, you will want the CRTC goosenech (as it is adjustable).

Shooting a RRA w/mid-length grips.

I've been gone for too long and can't get a grasp on "PRI gooseneck" from the serach function or on the website mentioned.

Help?!

Kisara - Two questions: (1) What is it the cantilever mount? (2) Do you like the EOTech that far forward?

Thanks!

Since the question has been answered, let me just say caramel macchiato kicks ass!

That's the PRI he was talking about.   The ret will be in the lower 1/3rd of the window.

I'm not a Starbucks guy, but I did buy caramel macchiatos for my ex-girlfriend who liked them bigtime.

GAC out...time for class.

Looks like the cantilever will put it out as far as a new rail system equiped hand guard.  I'm leaning heavily towards a Daniel Defense 9.0 (???) railed hand guard over a Boonie Cooley adjustable height cantilever.  Opinions?  Pics?

Boom,

How's that EOTech/LaRue setup work with the standard front sight and the LaRue rear sight?

Tonight, I installed my EOTech/Larue, using a new YHM barrel-mounted flip-up front sight, and a new Troy flip-up dual-ap rear sight. The peep sights seem too low in the EOTech window. The bottom of the peep sight circle is obscured when looking through the window, obviously much worse with the big peep. Seems like for the peep sights to work properly, you need to see the full circle, to help center the front post for accurate shooting.

What I have now is a temporary setup, I'm actually planning to put the EO on another rifle (when I complete it), and am considering a setup like yours. I may reconsider if it gives me this kind of sight picture.

Thanks,
MFer

I received my Larue mount for the EOtech this week from Grant and have it on a 20" rifle with a Larue BUIS.  When looking through the BUIS the bottom of the EOtech window appear to be about even with the base of the front sight post.  Which is about perfect because the irons are just there for backup and the EOtech is at an optimum height IMO.

MTer,

I like the set up. In the beginning I did not like the fact that the irons were so low. Yes you are right about the rear ring not being fully visible. That did bother me for a bit, then it started to grow on me. So far I have not had any real problems with the irons. I can see the center of the rear ring and that is all that really matters.  Give it a little time, work with it and I think you'll start to like it.  Good luck.

The optic blocks the bottom 3rd of the rear ring for you guys that do not understand what we are talking about.

Well alrighty then, I'll see how she shoots. Sounds like the sight picture on your setup is just like mine. The rear sight still seems a bit low to me, but as long as it's where LaRue intended it to be, I suspect it will work just fine.

That also gives me a little more confidence in the setup you have, so I'll be more likely to go ahead with that plan.

Gracias

hey, what is the benefit of mounting the optic forward and down, you say there is a 'co-witness' benefit, what do you mean, also, do you have to remove the rear site to see properly??
