I am thinking about getting an ACOG to put on my A2 bushy.  I would like to mount it in front of the carry handle and cowitness it with my iron sights.  Anyone have any experince with this set up?  good??  Bad???  Pics would be great so I can get an idea of what it will look like.  Also, what mount would I need?

Thanks
Ian

The eye relief of the ACOG wont work that far forward, nor can you cowitness irons through a magnified optic.

What are you looking for the optic to do for you?

basically just a little faster target aquisition (however you spell it) and accuracy.  It has to be able to cowitness my irons do to my situation with this rifle.  (LEO)

since lumpy didnt say it yet i am.

for cowitnessing and mounting in front of you carry handle an aimpoint !

but if you like you could get an eotech or you could just mount the acog in the carry handle and still have your iron sights cause theres a peep hole in the base of the acog for this purpose.

Well if you have to have the optic cowitnessed, the Eotech or the Aimpoint on a gooseneck mount is the only option you have with an A2 upper.  If its a duty rifle, those two optics would serve you well in the vast majority of the scenarios you are likely to encounter.

Cowitnessing isnt possible with magnified optics, but bear in mind, the ACOGs have a channel to allow use of the irons on a fixed handle upper.

Thanks, unfortunantly per our policy, any "scope" we have has to be cowitnessed with the iron sights, so I can't mount it on top of the handle.

I'll have to take a look at the EOtech and the aimpoint and see what's going to work out better I guess.

I guess I'll keep the Acog for my soon to be new AR flattop!
