What thinks thee?  Medium to longish range for TEOTWAWKI.  Future project of mine!  Assuming I have to head into the Utah mountains to hunt for food then defend myself from zombies and/or pick off the same from my second floor bedroom window.  Already have a RRA 16" M4gery with a 2x TA47-2 which I love.  It's dead on out to 200 yards with Hornady 75's at NATO spec velocites.

Sniper style or TA-55A (5.5x)?  Damn heavy!

Or a TA20 (3x-9x, which may not be tough enough), TA01B (4x).

I would not recommend a TA01 or TA31 on a 308.  Eye relief will get you smacked in the head.

My advice would be to go with a lighter weight "SPR" scope (NF 2.5-10x or M/RT) OR a TA11.

Yeah, I think that is whats going on my T.  As far as the TA55 ACOG goes, everyone that says they are heavy is blowing smoke up your ass and dont know their own ass from their elbow.  What are they comparing the weight to, an EOTech?  The TA55 weighs 25.6 oz with Trijicon's integrated flat top mount.  The 4.5-14 x 50 weight 22oz WITHOUT scopemounts.  Im sure after you put a decent scope mount on it, it will be heavier than the TA55.  I just put a TA55 on my AR10 A4, and let me tell you, this thing is BAD ASS.  Now, for the T, Im going with the above scope ( Leupold 4.5-14x50) on mine.  The A4 I felt the 55 was meant for it, and I actually think it is not that heavy for what it is IMHO.

I disagree with the ACOG on the AR10T.I believe most shooting with a "T" will be prone, or on a supported structure.(don't shoot much off hand with a 24inch HB gun) My choice is a variable, something like the 4.5x14x50.You can power down to fight mirage, and power up to ID targets.I prefer the 50mm or larger for light gathering.
Now if the question was asked, which scope for a AR10A4, I would go with the TA11 or NXS 2.5x10.

And yes, I am bias.

I agree with using a mmore conventional scope with the "T". I have a M3 on mine and I could not be happier. Maybe an ACOG would be great with an A4 carbine but not on a precision rifle.
