I am looking for a good scope to mount on my AR-15, but I am not sure what would best.  What power should I get, any brand recommendations?

Thanks for the info,

What's your intended use?

And your budget?  This will help us narrow down the choices.

I really am not worried to much about a budget.  And for use.....just something to "sport" it up a little.  I will not be doing to much with it.  Just for leisure mainly,

Thanks Again,

That still doesn't really help us.

What kind of accuracy do you want/need?

Is this a rig to mainly shoot tight groups on paper?  At what distance?

This for hunting?  What kind of game?

Under what conditions (low light, rain, only sunny days at the range, etc.) will you use the optic?

Is your rifle an A3/A4 (flat top) upper?  Do you currently have/use a BUIS?

Is this for an existing rifle, or a rifle you plan to build?  Tell us more about the rifle.  For example, what kind of barrel (length, twist, chamber, manufacturer, is it free-floated?).

Do you have a need for target knobs, or do you want to just use Kentucky Windage?

Do you need something with range finding capabilities?

You really need to better define the requirements you're trying to meet before you can just slap any old solution on the problem.  It will really help use point you in the right direction.

I can hit steel 8"x8" targets at 200 yards with my Aimpoint.  I won't necessarily get tight groups with this setup though.

Maybe I can get you a little more info on this one....
I will be shooting mainly at about 100m.  Just leisure shotting more than anything else.  I will not be hunting with it so I can rule that one out.  I want something that can be used in daylight as well as lowlight conditions.  Not dark just low light.  It is not a flat top and I am using BUIS now.  It is brand new and hs a 16in barrell.  It is chambered in 223 made by Armalite.  I have no need for target knobs or range finding ability.

Hopefully this will help lead me in the right direction....

Thanks for the help,
Bit

A low powered variable scope is very versital.  1x-3 or 4x is nice.

You can shoot with very quickly with both eyes open on close targets and then dial it up at yardage.

Weaver, Luepold and Pentax make nice, low powered scopes - as well as many other manufacturers.  Many of the 1-4x scopes are marketed as shotgun scopes.

P.S.  save your $ and don't buy cheap glass.  There's no such thing as cheap AND good when it comes to glass IMHO.
