I bought a BC gooseneck and I have no complaints at this time.  I was thinking of streamlining a little and putting on a BMAS split rail handguard and mounting my EOtech to the handguard.  I remember hearing a while back that these seem to be pretty sturdy and work well even though they are not free floating.  This is a hunting rifle only not combat.  It seems like I could put the handguard on and then cowitness my Eotech with irons.  If the handguard shifted couldn't I simply check to make sure my dot is still zero'd to my irons?  Anyone have these type of handguards and how do they like them.  I think someone said they are the same as a YHM model?  Anyway if I decide to go all out and spend a couple hundred bucks which setup would work well with my A2 style busmaster?  How does the arms SIR system that attaches to the carry handle work?  It looks really heavy.

Well I did a search on the SIR systems and it sounds like most people are not real impressed with them so forget my question about those.  What I'm really wondering is if a split rail hanguard will hold my zero enough for hunting applications.  I don't want to lose my zero by wiggling my handguard.  I realize I'm sure I would lose my zero if I drop it and I can live with that.  Is there any hanguards that I don't have to remove my barell or front sight to install that work good?  Any recommedations?

The Bushmaster/YHM 2-piece hangaurd is pretty solid and would -probably- be okay with a dot sight.

About using the iron sights to confirm the zero: they don't always align 100% and the advantage of the dot is that it is fast which goes away if you compare it to the irons with every shot.  Might as well just use the irons.
