MOA = Minute of Angle. An angular measurement which equates to about 1.0" horizontal/vertical spread at a distance of 100 yards away. For instance: If your shots are all striking within a 1" diameter circle from a distance of 100 yards, your rifle is shooting "1 MOA". If all the target holes are within 1/2", your rifle is shooting "0.5 MOA" (more better). Note that 1.0 MOA at a distance of 200 yards would cover 2.0", @ 800 yards: 8.", etc. If you shot a series of rounds which hit the target within a 3" circle at a distance of 400 yards, your group would measure 0.75 MOA. ie; 1 MOA @ 400 yards would be a circle 4.0" in diamter. Your 3" group divided by 4" = 0.75 MOA. If your shot group were within a 6" circle @ 400 yards, that would be a 1.5 MOA group. A red dot sight with a 4.0 MOA diameter dot will cover 4" @ 100 yards, 12" @ 300 yards, etc. Hope this helps. SD |
