I am giving some thought to purchasing one myself, but I am curious as to others opinions. Any special features making them superior to Aimpoint/EO tech? I can understand that the big prices are a supply and demand issue. The USMC wants 'em, and therefore, everyone else does as well. Does the product really live up to the price? What has been your experience? Any favorite models?, and if so....best application for those models..short/medium/long range applications. AND of course....post pix if you got 'em!

I've played with several ACOGs and can't use them well as an Aimpoint until 100 yards or so, sometime 200 yards if I have multiple targets to hit fast.

There are mutant turtle ninjas with 6 million dollar man eyesight that will tell you the ACOG is just as fast for them from 15 yards to infinity. I'm not one of them. Just a normal human with normal vison and reflexes here.

What is the story with the cracking/webbing I hear about with the fiber optic tube on the ACOG?

It is normal.  The tube is lexan and is cold formed so it has stress on it.  Just takes a while for it to start to crack.  Doesn't normally hurt anything.

If you keep both eyes open and keep your face away from the acog (at whatever distance necessary to make the acog an "unmagnified red dot") you can do the 10 foot to 30 yard thang. Quickly.
