| New guy with easy question. I just bought a Bushmaster carbine with a fixed carry handle that was produced in 1999 as a Y2K Special model. The rear sight does not have the finger-adjustable wheel for elevation, it has the side mounted wheel with small holes for side-side adjustments. It looks like the front sight is adjustable for elevation. Are these A-1 or A-2 sights? I'm not up on the terminology. I wonder why this model doesn't have the elevation wheel like the other Bushmasters that I've seen lately. This is my first AR. |
Those would be called 'A1' sights (which is funny because they are the same sights that were on the original M16). Colt has also called them 'field sights' - which is appropriate. They are the better design for a carbine - the uber-adjustable A2 sights are better for use on nice KD ranges. |
