I am looking to hopefully spend less than $100 on a buis.

For the indefinite future, I will only be using the buis, but would like to eventually (couple years) get an acog or eotech or aimpoint or something.

I would like one that defaults to a cqb site, and has apertures out to 500m.

It looks like the YHM and the A.R.M.S. #40L or #40 are my best bets.

My choices in folding BUIS are the Troy BUIS or the ARMS 40.

I was in the same situation, and went with the ARMS #40.  It's a very good piece of equipment.  I don't think you can go wrong with the Troy, either - I just don't have any personal experience with it.

Is the Troy single or dual apertures?

On the new Troy BUIS, is the larger aperature the default one when flipped up?

I believe so

i personally have the YHM flip ups with dual apertures, and they are pretty nice for the money.

However i have been really impressed with the Arms 40 and 40L. (ah, if money were no option)

I liked the ARMS #40, did not like the KAC 300M. I also have thhe LMT fixed BUIS, and i could hammer nails with that thing if I wanted to.

I'm going to suggest that you go with a fixed BUIS, like the LaRue for $89.

I like the fixed LMT BUIS. It would also make a good primary sight until you get the Eotech or Aimpoint.

LMT or Larue - I dislike folding BIS with CCO's.

If you're using an ACOG or traditional scope, go with the ARMS 40.  If you're using an Aimpoint or EOTech, go LaRue fixed BUIS.  The LMT is my second choice for a fixed BUIS.

Grant,

When EOTech releases their 3.75X magnifier would you still recommend a fixed BUIS, realizing that you would need to remove it in order to utlize the tele-extender, or would you recommend at that point a folding BUIS?  If you are still recommending a fixed BUIS, what are the "return-to-zero" capabilities of those fixed BUIS's?  When remounted, are they within 1 MOA of their original setting?

I would go with the TROY BUIS as my first choice and ARMS #40L as my second in this setup. The Larue Tactical BUIS is the only one that I would gurantee 100% repeat zero if you were going that route. One thing you can do with the LaRue BUIS is put it at the 6 o'clock position (if you have a rail system) and use it as a mini vertical grip!

Well guys, he DID suggest the possibility of an ACOG

True but he did say, "indefinite future" and "couple years" which led me to believe his BUIS was going to be his primary sight during that time.   A lot could change in a "couple years".

What of the GG&G?  I do not hear any comparason.

The GG&G is a decent BUIS but it's simply not in the same class as the Troy or ARMS.

If you watch the EE closely, you can likely pick up an ARMS #40 for under $80.  That's how I got mine and how I will likelly get my next BUIS (Likely a Troy).
