| What is the quality of NightForce scopes and who sells them? I'm getting a new scope for my AR10T probably within the next couple of weeks. I've heard good things about NightForce scopes but I have never handled one and I hardly see them around here. How would you compare them to the SS because unless the NightForce scope is within my budget I may stick with an SS. |
|
What is a SS? Nightforce is about 1300 each for the 3.5-15x50 with illuminated reticle. you might be able to find a deal with dealers on this board. Nightforce is comparable to Schmidt und Bender scope that usually charges around 2500 dollars. the reticle is bright and clear, it adds about half hour of shooting time compare to a Leupold Vari-X3 in twilight time. and the NSX construction is solid as a rock. If you have the cash, you should spend the money on a Nightforce. |

LEUPOLD MAKES A GOOD SCOPE AT AN EXCELLENT PRICE. NIGHTFORCE MAKES A GREAT SCOPE AT AN EXCELLENT PRICE. I HAVE DONE MY OWN 8 HOUR LONG SIDE-BY-SIDE COMPARISON WITH NIGHTFORCE AND LEUPOLD. NIGHTFORCE WON HANDS DOWN, ESPECIALLY AFTER THE LIGHT STARTED TO FADE. I LIKE THE NIGHTFORCE RETICLE IN THE SECOND FOCAL PLANE, MYSELF, ALWAYS STAYING THE SAME SIZE. THE EURO OPTIC PRACTICE OF FIRST FOCAL PLANE HAS ITS ADVOCATES, BUT I DO NOT CARE FOR IT. THE NIGHTFORCE NP-R2 RETICLE IS THE MOST PRACTICAL RANGING RETICLE OUT THERE. FOR THOSE OF YOU ACCUSTOMED TO RANGING WITH MILS, USING YARDS OVER MILS TIMES 1000, I SUBMIT TO YOU THAT THE NP-R2 FORMULA OF INCHES OVER MINUTES TIMES 100 IS FAR EASIER AND ULTIMATELY MORE ACCURATE. M.S.T.N. HAS BEEN A QUIET NIGHTFORCE DEALER FOR GOING ON FIVE YEARS. WE HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING BUT POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM OUR CUSTOMERS. PAUL AND I NEED TO GET A PIC UP OF ALL OF OUR NIGHTFORCE NXS EQUIPPED WEAPONS. YOU WILL SEE THE NIGHTFORCE 3.5-15X50 NXS ON A NEW "M-TYPED" SNIPER RIFLE VARIANT IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THE NEW NIGHTFORCE NXS SCOPES IN 2.5-10X AND 1-4X WERE DEVELOPED IN APRT WITH FUNDS FROM SOME NAVY GUYS CALLED "DEVELOPMENT GROUP" SOMETHING OR OTHER. ANYWAY, THESE NEW SCOPES WILL SET NEW STANDARDS IN THIS RANGE OF OPTICS. WES GRANT M.S.T.N. |

Hi Sharpshot, We have the New Nightfoce 2.5-10x24 in stock and the are very sweet. Like MSTN said they will set NEW Standards. Here is a link to our Nightforce page on AR15.com. You can not even copmare SS to an Nightforce. I used to Be a Leupold guy then we started stock the NF's. www.csgunworks.com [email protected] Here’s some testimonials about CS GunWorks for AR15 Board Mike at CS Gunworks is... |
| thanks CS. I'm going to see if I have enough cash saved up for a nightforce because I'm splitting funds to fund my different projects/upgrades. The nightforce scope would fall under my AR10 upgrade project which will soon have new FF handguards, stock, etc. I currently have a Leupold Vari XIII on the AR10 now but if and when I get a new scope I plan on transferring it to another rifle. If I can't get one right now I'm definitely getting one in the near future. Thanks for everyone's input. |

Can you guys who know optics dumb it down for me a bit. When comparing a Leapold Mk 4 3.5 -10 to a NightForce NSX 3.5 to 15. What am I gaining with the Nightforce vs the leopold. I understand that I will be gaining some time when the light is fading. What are the other options. I have been mulling over which scope to get for some time now. Thanks in advance. Pat |

If you want the best optic out there, go with a Schmidt & Bender PM II, Nightforce does not even come close. I have owned them all & S&B is the very best. To compare Nightforce to Schmidt & Bender is like comparing a Volkswagon to a Ferrari. Not even in the same realm.. Leupold & Nightforce are close, but I would still take the Leupold...If you buy a Leupold, try www.premierreticles.com I would reccomend one of the Gen II Mildot reticles in one of the new Leupold Mark 4 scopes. |

Framer, I totally agree with...ALMOST!! LOLhe I favor US Optics because of the options one can have, ie differant reticle, power, tube options, customer service, etc. The PMII is a little more streamlined than the SN-3 though. The SN-3 is huge!! But, I do agree with you that Night Force, as good as they are, pale in comparison to S&B or USO, IMHO... There's USO and S&B and everybody else. |

Hi cheaptrick, I think S&B’s are great scopes and I have used them myself but I see some things I like more about the NF. The NF price starts at $1278.00 and top out at $1648.00 where S&B starts out at $1648.00 and top out at $2675.00. The NF has a lot more elevation and the other thing is the customer services is there, and is the best I have ever dealt with. I do not see enough difference if any in quality of glass, or materials to warrant the price. Please don’t get me wrong, I really like the S&B’s and would own one my self. Leupold, Zeizz, S&B, NF, Swarovski, USO, & Unertl are all optics that I have extreme faith in. When you are buying a scope of this caliber you will be well served with whatever one you chose. With this range of optics, it’s what you prefer. Before we were stocking the NF we looked at the USO and NF. We chose NF to start with because the price, the extremely high quality, their customer service, the Reticle are out standing, and it’s a scope we would are willing to have associated CS GunWorks. Not to say USO and S&B are not good enough for us, they are. We can get S&B and we would like to stock the USO soon. I have been around the block a time or two with a SWS. The NXS is a fantastic scope for the money, and will do the job for most any situation. The S&B PM II are tied at the top with USO for quality of glass, coatings, durability and,.........PRICE. I like the first focal plane reticle due to being able to mil at any magnification. For optics under 1500.00, the NXS is da bomb, but there is just a different level of quality when speaking of USO & S&B. I have owned, used and competed with Leupold Nightforce, USO, and S&B. The S&B needs a 28moa cant in a base if shooting 175grn .308 out to 1k. I like the custom options you can get when ordering a USO. I have more elevation than I need for a .308 with a 20moa taper. I have a USO SN3 which currently rides atop my AI AWPFS. Jim |

CSgunworks, you are well served selling NF scopes. More people will buy them, rather than get a S&B or USO rig. Money talks..... Texasjim touched on a real good point. Several actually. First focal plane reticles. S&B, USO have them. To my knowledge NF does not. I would never own a ranging type reticle that was not FFP. I have, but it limits me on the power setting I want to shoot with. The FFP reticle placement is superior in every way. But, it's more expensive to build.hen That's where I feel US Optics comes into play. For the guy that likes OPTIONS!!! Like me. They are a custom scope maker. To my knowledge they only make one scope that is massed produced, and that is the ST-10. (I may be wrong on that.)have I just got USO's MOA reticle. What a dream!! It's setup like a mildot, but it's in moa. It's that easy. I have no beef with NF at all. Several friends have them and love 'em. A lot of big time bench rest shooters use them, and shoot at KNOWN distances with no problems. NF's are a good buy, solid scope no doubt. If NF would build a scope with reticle in the first focal plane, that would put them up there with S&B and USO...All has been said in my humble opinion.. |
I have USO's EREK knob that will get out past 1000 yards with one turn. Love it!! S&B have a state side CS dept now?? A friend got his S&B worked on, and it had to go back to the Fatherland to be serviced. That was a few years ago. Took 2 months to get back, I do know that. |
