Ok, don't know if you all remember me posting about a holosight that I had and put the wrong batteries in. Well, I called them and was instructed to send it in with a note. I did that, to include some tear drop stains. Well yesterday I received a post card from Bushnell with repair number etc... I went on line and did a quick check expecting it to be on the way to eotech or some such. Well, low and behold, it is on-route to me now will arrive on 8/3. It was listed as a warranty repair!! I think I'll be paying that $10 shipping charge, but that appears to be it! Wow and a big thanks to Bushnell!!!

That's interesting that you mentioned that because I had the exact opposite experience with Bushnell. I had their Holosight 2 for approximately a month when my rifle tipped over while it was leaning up against a wall. A fracture occurred across the top of the sight so I had to glue it back together. Consequently, the sight started behaving weirdly after that. By the term weirdly, I mean things such as turning on byself, inability to shut off, etc. I sent it into Bushnell with my $10 and they sent me a letter stating the problem. A few weeks later, I heard back that it was not covered under warranty and the cost to replace was $198.00 ($50 more would have bought me a new sight). Disgustingly, I asked them just to return the sight to me unrepaired. Three weeks later, it came back to me (not sure what took so long). Anyway, the moral of the story for me was: 1. I should have paid more in the beginning and sprung for the EOTech 551 with protective hood. The holosight is very fragile despite their claims that it does not need a protective hood. 2. Follow up constantly with customer service since the sight can get lost in the system. There are pockets of good service out there and I'm glad that they were able to take care of your problem promptly. But I just don't think that's a rule anymore in the post dot com age ... |
| Dang, sorry to hear about that one. I guess I did get lucky then. I wonder if they are recognizing the flaw in using that type of battery for dumbasses like me to mix a 12VDC with a 1.5VDC. Of course I could get it back with a big fat bill inside it. I'll know on Tuesday I guess. |
| Just a quick update. Got the holosight in the mail today. Turns out that they sent me a demo unit with just the 1 MOA dot. According to the note, it would have cost me $195 to get a replacment unit. Still hooked me up and I do appreciate it. Just so you all know. |

Not so long ago a couple of eyeglass optics grinders asked the question "What if" and decided to start making optical glass here in the states just in case. In case they couldn't rely upon the Japaneese and Germans as allies. The rest is history. I wish they still did their glass here, but it's good to know the company still takes care of Americans. Bushnell/ B&L holds a soft spot in my heart. S-28 |
