I know about the M/M2 & ML/ML2, but what's an M XD?

The XD is an improved version of the original Comp M, basically a Comp M with better battery life.

Its the original M68 CCO.  The one everyone was trying to buy before the super long life M2s came out.

A very good sight.

I have not replaced my original CompM-XD (M68) with the CompM2 and see no reason to at present.  Yeah the M2 has longer battery life.  If you can get a good deal on the CompM-XD snap it up.  If you're buying new and the prices are even close get the M2.  Avoid either L-model if you can, their non-military optical coatings tend to have fuzzy dots more often then the NVG-rated models.

OK, more confusion.  I bought an Aimpoint  off EE that was supposedly a CompM-XD.  When I got it, it's marked CompM.  How do I tell?

Best way to tell is to call Aimpoint and give them your serial number - they'll be able to tell you if it is an XD.

All CompM's and M-XD's are marked the same. A long time ago someone had info about the CompM's brightness control turning clockwise and the M-XD's turning the opposite way and something about where in the brightness setting the NV settings are....

I wish I could remember how it went, but hopefully this will spark the memory of someone else.....

basicly they're all the same in appearance / funtion.

These have a setting(s) for NVG's:
Comp M  was the original
Comp M-XD has improved battery life
Comp M2 even better batter life (current production)

These are the same models as above, but w/o an NVG setting:
Comp ML
Comp ML-XD
Comp ML2
