The current issue of Leatherneck has a good article about a new program that the Corps has for the I MEF in Iraq.  Selected Marines are given a new M16A4 fitted with an ACOG.  These riflemen are known as Squad Advanced Marksmen-SAM.  The SAMs are given two days of training with the new rig and then sent out to hurt somebody.  One Capt. said that his SAMs are getting 6 to 8 kills.  The Marines are using the four power ACOG to engage "targets" out to 1,000 meters.  The sight seems to be "Marine Proof" and well liked by the SAMs.

Are you new here?....:)

Welcome to the board.  The SAM and his Rifle have been a hot topic here for a while.

We've bee talking about that ACOG for some time now. Here's a thread that started almost 2 years ago and is still going!!!. It discusses the ACOG in contrast to many of the other popular optics available and in use.

It is an awesome optic being put to great use.
