i need some feedback on  this red dot scope.   pros and cons...
Please only comment, if you have REAL hands on experience with this scope.

i dont wanna hear... it looks like a Hakko knock off.  it aint american made. its an airsoft, its not a real aimpoint, acog,  eotech...yada yada yada.

1) is this scope really battle proven in russia/ chechnya?
2) how many rounds have you put thru your scope?   7.62x39  or 5.45x39?
3)  will it co-witness on a M4 flat top?  is so, what "height"  mount/ring did you use.

Freeedomoptics.com has  thsi scope for $145 with 30mm standard rings... it seems rather low.

thanks in advance.

While I do not have this site, I have the PK-AS that I bought from FreedomOptics.com (they are very reputable and I would recommend the website).

I have my PK-AS mounted on my .223 AK and I do like the sight a lot.  I love the sight and have had great experiences with it.

The model you are looking at is the PK-01.

I have a friend who recently bought one of these to put on a rifle - I am pretty sure he is going to put it on his HBAR.  He told me that the sight has a photo-sensing cell on it and that the red dot adjusts for sunlight and shade conditions.  He has not shot the rifle with the PK-01 yet though so I cannot report on this.

This sight is the first gen of these Russian "PK" sights.  While the price is lower, you might want to look at a PK-AS.  It is A BEAST to sight in but my PK-AS has been SOLID once I got it sighted in (it would be easier to sight in mounted in a weaver mount instead of the AK mount).  I have taken mine shooting 3 times and have put 150 rounds through the rifle each time and had wonderful accuracy (with an AK) and no faults or failures.  The last time I was shooting, it was extraordinarily humid and the sight did not fog up at all (although my glasses were fogging because of the horrid humidity).

As for "battle testing," I am pretty sure the Russian (KGB) "ALPHA" teams use these sights.  These are the troops that were sent into the "Nord Ost" theater situation.  I do not know a lot of detail about this also - sorry.

I can say that Yuri, who runs FreedomOptics.com, runs a good company.  I asked a few questions before I bought my PK-AS and my Kobra and he answered these questions promptly and with lots of information.  He's all about customer service.  I got my sights quickly and when one of the sights did not come with the batteries, Yuri shipped them to me no charge.

You probably should contact him via the link on FreedomOptics.com and ask him some of your questions.  he knows his products very well.

Good Luck

Where do you see it for $145 for that sight?

I was gonna pick up another Kobra, but not for the $219 they want for it now...how come they're so expensive now?  I paid around $130 for the 2 I bought a while back.

I'd be happy to try the PK-AV for $145 but the price I see for that is $179, if I have the right one.  Even with the 5% discount, it's more than $145.

**FOUND IT**...what's the deal with those offset rings?  And do these have the multiple reticles like the Kobra?

The first run had a wimpy dot that washed out in strong light. Newer runs fixed that.

There are more firsthand reports on the AK side of the board.

I'll ask him what he uses to mount the scope.  He put it on his M-1a SOCOM and it looks impressive.  We went shooting Wednesday (I got 5 new Weiger East German .223 mags for my converted Saiga to test out - not one failure - and he wanted to test out the PK-01 on the SOCOM).  Unfortunately, the extractor broke on his M-1A SOCOM he
If you can handle the smaller field of vision, I would say go with the PK-01.  It's a good sight for the money.  I like the PK-AS on my converted Saiga because I get a great cheek-weld (being a left handed shooter).  My next sight will probably be a PK-01 as I want to "complete the collection."

As for the PK-AV, the sight sits too high and it is not as adjustable.  This is a major drawback for the sight.  If you are looking for something that you are going to sight in for CQB, it might be better to look at the Kobra as that is much more of a CQB sight.  The PK-AV doesn't come in Weaver-mount from FreedomOptics.com though so you would be out of luck with that - or you would have to find a way to mount it yourself.

My friend is a member of these boards so hopefully, I can get him to write a review of the PK-01 on his own
