How are these compared to say....a 2X Acog? (Gee that must've been a surprise question)\

I'm so sick of no one having ACOGS, that I'm thinking of just finding something else within the same general design (Compact, little bit of magnification, nice fast red reticle)

Any thoughts on the 2X Aimpoints or ANYTHING out there that might hold a candle to the compact ACOG? Like I said, I'm looking for compact, 2-4x range(prefer closer to 4x), red lit reticle, good for mounting on A2 carry handle...anyone know what I can get my hands on that fits the bill?

The consensus on the 2x Aimpoint is STAY AWAY, due to the extremely narrow field of view.  Others will be along to tell you the same thing soon... loudly and repeatedly.

Ok...sooo on to the other part of my question though, what ELSE is there that is more readily available than ACOG that fits the same general guidelines I'm looking for?

Everyone bashes the hell out of these, many of them I question if they've ever even actually used one or are just repeating what is said online.

My take on them is this so far: I wouldn't want one for a continuous optic on my carbine. But, I have a friend that runs one on his M1A and on that rifle I like the optic quite well.  I'd also very much like to try an NVD capable one in front of my PVS 14 to see how it would work out in a night shooting arena...Would anyone have any direct use input on that by chance?

Hi CeeDub,
I agree with RSRacingWA look at IOR, Leupold, and I would also would recommend look into Nightforce 1.5-4x24mm scope.
