What does the Aimpoint double battery module do?  Does it double the life of the red dot, or double the intensity of the dot, or something else?  I did a search and nothing came up.

It stores a 2nd battery for immediate use by removing the cap and flipping the double battery module.

It just allows you to store a spare battery in the cap. The spare battery is not electrically connected, so you do not get any longer life or a brighter dot. HTH

For the newer Aimpoints, the module only houses a spare battery.  For the older Aimpoints, it doubled intensity of the dot.

Does it come with replacement caps for the aiming adjustments already attached to the strap? Seems like the strap is longer, and I dont' see an easy way to disconnect it from the covers...

Thanks for clearing that up for me.  How long should I expect a battery to last on the fifth or sixth click up?

Im on the same battery that came with my Aimpoint over a year ago, and Ive left it on overnight on several occasions.

Theres a theoretical 10000hrs on the low settings.

I believe it.

Thanks for the info, Lump.  While I have your ear, does the killflash get rid of the red glare that bounces back at you, or does it just keep someone from detecting it from the front side?

Never used one.  Sorry, no help.

the kill flash mainly stops the flash of the lens from reflecting... the little red light that comes foward your aimpoint doesn't really matter to me...

its hardly any... and you can only see a small dull light if your are directly looking into the optic... if your attacker see's a dot it'll be the last thing he'll see before he's in heaven or hell...

The red coating on the front lens leaves a "ghost"  image in the tube.  Is there any lens cover that will eliminate or reduce the glare?
