Hey all,

This may seem like a dumb question, but here it goes. I just got my Compact ACOG TA50-R2 in the mail. She's mounted (that sounds dirty) but I have no earthly idea where to put the triangle on my target. Do I cover the area I want to hit with the whole triangle or do I put the tip right underneath or over the target area. I'm a little confused on this.

Thanks, Dave

Id go for tip at 50 which makes center of triangle up close and allows precision to 200m.

As DevL said, sight in th tip of the triangle at 50 (some also suggest 75 with the carry handle mount) yards.  Use teh tip for a precise aiming point, and the whole thing for short range work.

It kinda depends on which power compact acog you have because the triangle size is different.  I was working on that myself.  Not that it is prudent for me, because I am saving for a TA31F.  In the future I would like to have a TA47-R2?  The 2 power version with the red triangle.

How do they measure the triangle.  In the above choice, the Trijicon literature says that the triangle is 9.2? MOA.  Is this the bottom width of the triangle.  Also, is the triangle a equalateral triangle?  This would make the triangle 8 MOA tall.  That is a 4 MOA drop from center.

I think I will do the math on the trajectory and prefered zeros if someone can give me a carry handle mounting height.  Paul?

Hey all,

Thanks for the tips. I sighted the ACOG in at 50 yards as suggested, and fired about 300 rounds through the gun, and man oh man it was fun. I setup 3 targets 1 at 25, 1 at 50, and 1 at 100 yards. My brother and I played a little game where the observer would shout out the range he wanted the shooter to shoot at and you would put two shots downrange. Not double taps as "rapid fire" is not allowed at this particular range. The BAC feature is real cool and after you get used to it is REAL easy to switch targets. I find if I blink my left eye, I can zoom instantly, and if I blink the right eye I can "turn off" the zoom to get a wider view. Switching back and forth from 25 yds to 100 was easy as pie. Some of the folks out at the range looked at us kind of funny as we shouted "50, 50, 25, 100, 25, 25" etc. but the range officer loved watching us, he gets kind of bored watching the "reloaders" take 30 minutes to put 3 shots downrange. Kind of like that old Simon Says electronic game :)

That 50y mark, will it work for my 16in Bushy flat-top carbine and an ACOG TA31A?
In the manual say to zero at a 100y but i too had that question about where to put the triangle. Again, is it the tip in the bull or the whole thing covering?

That's precisely how I do it too [:)]

Once I got BAC figured out it was like finding the holy grail. I kick myself now for waiting so long for my first ACOG.
