First post and new to the board. As an intro; retired LEO/Rangemaster/Dept Armorer/sometimes S.A.S.S. Shooter. New to the world of red dot scopes. The only views I have is from "lurking" on the board for several weeks. From the photo views of the Aimpoint ML2 it appears as the scope blocks the shooters view to the right side. Is this an issue? The ECOTECH seems to provide less peripheral blocking. Thank you in advance for any insight. |

Something to consider when comparing photos showing a view through an Aimpoint (or EO Tech for that matter) is that the pictures are taken with a camera that is monocular It's like looking through the optic with one eye which, as others have already stated, is not the way red dots are meant to be used. When you actually use a red-dot sight, you look through and past the sight so the dot/reticle is superimposed on your target. That's a very difficult if not impossible thing to get across in a picture. Also, not to get OT but I don't get the debate regarding the EO Tech having a better FOV than the Aimpoint. Before you flame me, I'm not looking to start an EO Tech vs. Aimpoint thread. Been there, done that. I've got both sights and like them both. But, if you're using either sight as designed, your not looking through the tube/window anyway. If the FOV comparison between the two is based on the size of the window the dot or reticle appears on, it would seem that the single 4 MOA dot of the Aimpoint has more area to be viewed in when compared to the 65 MOA ring of the EO Tech. What am I missing here? BTW, with the Aimpoint, it is possible to have the scope caps obscure your FOV (in the open position) if they are set to fold back far enough. The best solution is to have them flip down and out of the way. |
