Anybody have any info on KAC getting into the optics business? The KNIGHTSCOPE is to be released mid 2004. Competition for the ACOG maybe? Thanks. -Justin

ACTUALLY, NO. THE KNIGHTSCOPE IS A UNIT POWER NIGHT VISION DEVICE, DESIGNED TO MOUNT COAXIALLY AND FORWARD OF DAY OPTICS.

I HAD A CHANCE TO LOOK THROUGH ONE AT KNIGHT'S OPEN HOUSE IN TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA, DURING THE 2003 SHOT SHOW.  IT WAS MOUNTED ON A MK 11 MOD 0 AHEAD OF A LEUPOLD LRM3. I'VE DONE MY SHARE OF LOOKING THROUGH NVD'S, WITH AND WITHOUT MAGNIFICATION. THIS THING IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

Very true. However, IMHO, this is the best setup I have ever seen that still allows your day scope to be used.

Does it attach to the scope or does it have to have a section of rail to mount on?  My guess would be rail only...which would render it completely useless for a boltgun.

YES, IT IS DESIGNED TO MOUNT TO A MILSTD 1913 RAIL.

USELESS FOR A BOLT GUN?

IT DEPENDS ON THE GUN. THIS NEW FOREND FOR THE TUBB 2000T WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR KNIGHTSCOPE APPLICATION FOR A FEDERAL AGENCY:

Okay, useless for everyone [s]not using that MickeyMouse thing[/s] using a regular boltgun.[:D]

Other than increased cost it wouldn't be that big a deal to go to an increased length M1913 base on a bolt gun, that should give enough length to support the scope and forward optic.

I would say this would be closer to their answer for a SIMRAD than an ACOG.

I looked at the PDF and I gotta ask this question.  If the scope have no magnification what is the benifit of placing the weapon scope behind the KAC scope?  Wouldn't you be zooming in on the pixels instead of the object?  After all a NV scope is a mini-tv screen isn't it?  You don't actually look down a tube.

QUIETSHOOTR,

YOU SHOOT YOUR 20TH CENTURY BOLT GUN. I'LL SHOOT MINE. BESIDES, YOU'RE LUCKY I'M NOT - SNIFF - SENSITIVE. ; )

PLACING THE SCOPE IN FRONT OF THE DAY SCOPE PRESERVES YOUR EYE RELIEF AND CHEEK WELD.

BUT YOUR OTHER POINT IS WELL-TAKEN. TAKE A 64 LINE PAIR PER MILLIMETER NVD AND VIEW IT THROUGH A SCOPE SET ON 4X. HOW IS IT GOING TO LOOK? 16 LP/MM???

WELL, ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT I SAW IT WITH MY OWN TWO EYES. THE RESOLUTION WAS UNBELIEVABLE, FAR SUPERIOR TO MY OWN OMNI IV NVD WITH NO MAGNIFICATION.

I will echo Wes's comments.

KAC makes a mount for the M24 (and other weapons to extend the M1913 rail)

They are many user groups that are very impressed with the capabilities of system.

I was in Titusville while Wes was there .

I had the chance to drop my eye in that tube too ,  I second Wes's words , the KAC Knighscope is top notch indeed .

Yes,

I saw it but dids not (until I saw Dave and Havoc playing with them at the T'vill shoot) realise that was in fact what it was.
