I bought a IOR handle mount for my 20" A2  but it does not seem to work.  It is dead on at 50yds but then after that all groups are dinner plate size.  The mount was on really tight with blue thread lock and the scope was on tight too.  I see people saying that they are too high off the bore to be any good.  Why is that?  I guess I am thinking if good companies make them then they must work, so why don't they (or do they)?  What can be done about it?
Thanks

The only carry handle mount I'd really trust for a magnified scope is the ARMS #39, which has two attachment points, but even then, you're putting the weight at the top of the carry handle which is supported by two fairly thin towers of aluminum, and the scope has a lot of leverage up there.

The bottom line, though, is that if you're looking to mount a magnified scope on your rifle, you're much better off switching your receiver to a flattop.  The reason you want your scope closer to the bore is both because the scope has less leverage (less likely to be knocked out of alignment) and because you'll have a lot wider range where your scope's point of aim matches the point of impact.  The higher the scope, the narrower the range where the impact of the bullet will be close to the point of aim (this is simple trigonometry).
