i have a 24 heavy barrel flaptop upper that needs some optics and i am looking for suggestions. range to be around 200-300 yards....

Leupold is probably your best choice.
I would get a Leupold V-3 target model. if you want engage targets out to 300 yards, a nice 3-9x40 would be great. or you can go higher power and larger obj, it all depends on your budget. mount the scope with a nice steel target grade high ring by GG&G or the likes.

How much do you want to spend? What are you going to be shooting?

As SMGLee says, Leupold makes a good scope. In my experience, the Bushnell Elite 4200 is a little better. The Nikon Monarch and Weaver Grand Slam are also reputed to be fine scopes.
