I have had my TA31 for about 3 months. Just the other day I was looking at it and noticed that the clear plastic housing for the fiber optic filament looked like it had "bend fractures" all along it. The plastic housing does not move, and it has not been bent since I have had it. I have not used it extensively and to be honest, I was so excited to get it that I never noticed the fractures when I put it on my rifle. It does not affect the performance of the scope at all, I was just wondering if this was normal for the ACOG scopes. Thanks.
I did end up emailing Trijicon and I got a response back in about a week. (I sent a picture of the scope with my email.) The customer service representative said the picture showed what appeared to be "stress fractures", and although it was cosmetic at this point (the scope functions fine), they would replace the fiber optic under the scope's warranty. I just mailed it off tonight. I'll let you know how it comes back.
I just examined mine closely and dont see any signs of the cracks. I've had mine for, I dont know, maybe a little more than a year? While I'm pleassed mine doesnt have them, and even if it did, it wouldnt effect the optic, its great to know that Trijicon is taking care if it.
The same thing happened to my TA31A. I called trijicon, and they were very cool about it. I mailed it out last Tuesday, can't wait to get it back. It may not affect the performance of the scope, but for close to $900, it would seem fair for them to take care of the problem.
I held onto mine for a month or so before I decided to see if it would be a future problem and to to find out what it would take to get it fixed. After emailing a picture to Trijicon, they just told me they would fix it under warranty and try to get it done in a week. It took about 2 - 3 weeks because of the holiday, but that wasn't too bad for me. When I called to check on the repair after a couple weeks, though, I was told by someone who wasn't handling my problem that most repairs are taking around 8 - 9 weeks. If you decide to send it in, make sure they make it a priority. If you don't, you may be waiting a while. |
