| Anyone done business with Botach? In my experience their customer service is terrible, I ordered mags from them twice, both times their website shows the mags to be in stock. First time I ordered mags they took several days to just process the order and then the order went straight to back order but they never told me. A couple of weeks later I called asking about shipping info and they told me theywere on back order! A few months pass and I thought I would give them a 2nd chance, again several days just to process the order and then my order went straight to back order even though their website shows the mags to be in stock. Seems to be a poorly run outfit |

Here is a dscription of my actual experience over the past 16 years.
I don't know if I ordered anything from the before 9/11 (2001) but I (to include military units) have ordered a lot of gear from them over the years. Back in the (pre-war) day, there weren't a lot of gear companies and Botach not only existed but had (as they do to this day) some pretty smoking deals (seemingly on something almost every day). I/we ordered a lot of gear and the result was typically good if the item was in stock. Back in the early 2000s they had what I will be the first to say were pretty terrible customer service, order/inventory tracking and follow-up systems, thus if an item was not instock/back ordered, it was easily forgotten (by Botach) and customer initiated follow-up was required. Basically, they had yet to adopt/adapt to the internet. Throw some terrible transactions to the winds of the interwebs and the whole thing took on a vastly over exaggerated aura. I would bet that half of the people bitching about how bad Botach is are just repeating what they have hear on the web. Why do I say that? Because, starting several years ago, they revamped their systems, joined the space age, initiated e-mail order confirmation (through Yahoo IIRC), e-mail status updates, online status, etc. So now they are basically like just about any other online vendor...except they typically have some pretty smoking deals. I just ordered some 14" Remington 870 barrels; one shipped right away, the other is on backorder; since that particular one wasn't available anywhere else, I'll let it ride and see what happens. Now they will let something sit on backorder for as long as you'd like...I've been waiting several monthsfor the barrel but I guess they figure if you don't cancel the order, you still want to wait for the item...whoda thought? Another example: they typically have good prices on Glock mags; I just bought a "lot" of OEM Glock mags on sale; all arrived just fine. It is your choice: avoid like the plague and miss out on some great deals or you can take your chances with Botach...just like you do with any other online vendor with whom you have yet to deal. And they aren't banned here...or I/we wouldn't be talking about them. |
