I have 5 different types of 9mm AR magazines:

-Colt
-Spikes
-Metalform
-C Products
-Unmarked

Which ones are the most reliable?  I know for a fact that my Colt works 100% in terms of cycling.  Haven't had much chance to test the other ones, was hoping to get some feedback on them.  Any idea what the unmarked one might be (I know this may be a stupid question…)

Colt and metalform should be one and the same.

I think spikes are also metalform, but I'm not sure.

ASC seem to be hit and miss for many  people, but mine work fine.

Test firing is the only sure bet. Seems there are many different 9mm builds and parts combos, what works for me may be garbage in your gun.

I just stick to metalform for now.

Metalform is the OEM for Colt and also supplies Spikes. All three are basically equal with the occasional plastic follower and different base plate(s).

Cproducts supplied mags to Colt for a while but Colt shit canned them for poor quality control.

I've had good luck with M-form and Colt but haven't tried Spikes due to their stupidly high fanboi price.

I've also used UZI mags cut for the Colt-type mag catch with good success.

All the Cproducts mags I had  (6) sucked, even after the follower upgrade.

One of the Arfcom brothers did an excellent write-up on the ASC mags.  He found some problems, and made the fixes look simple, but I'd probably just pay the extra $10 and buy Metalform mags.

CDNN seems to have the best price on Metalform 9mm mags.

20rd mag $25 at CDNN

All my C-Pro mags need some time in the Bridgeport to get them to even feed ammo. All my metalform and modifed UZI mags need no further modifications.

Buy metalform 9mm magazines.

I know that this thread is a few months old but I wanted to chime in.

I have Colt, Metalform, and C-Products magazines.

I have two Spike's Tactical blocks, one Rock River Arms block, one Hahn block (top load), and one lower that has the Colt 635 SMG mag blocks mounted in it.

I have 2x Colt 635 SMG upper receivers, 1 Rock River Arms "pistol" upper receiver, 1 upper with a TROS 5" barrel and 1 upper with a TROS 9" barrel.

I have run the mag blocks and my 9mm uppers on lower receivers from Spike's Tactical, Noveske, Rock River Arms, Seekins Precision, and Olympic Arms.

I have never, EVER had an issue with ANY magazine I own, including C-Products magazines.

I have some early C Product magazines and have never had an issue with them in a Colt carbine. I just ordered a dozen Brownells magazines, see what I get....

I just want to know why the hell they are such a pain in the ass to load?  I own Colt and C Products, and damnwhat a bitch to load up.

That's why Lula loaders for these sell so well.
Try hand loading a Sten mag sometime.

remember when we found out the CPRO mags had been designed around the gold standard of 9mm carbines, a Carbon Bushmaster...   wtf, no wonder they went out of business the first time.
